Dr. Frédéric Escartin is a post-doctoral researcher in the MICALIS institute. His previous works were focused on bacterial nucleotides metabolism and DNA repair in yeast. Using his experience in microbiology, molecular biology and genetics, he is involved in two aspects of the BaSynthec project. On the one hand, he designs and generates bacterial cells of reduced complexity by iterative deletions of chromosome parts. On the other hand, he is working in collaboration with Dr Vincent Fromion to design and engineer synthetic modules to be "plugged-in".
